The above picture shows a man
who is trying to cross a road carelessly stepping down from the footpath. This
picture highlights the importance of road safety. One must be absolutely
careful while crossing or even walking on the road. There are some basic norms
while being on the road. For example: - One should always avoid using mobile
phones while walking on the streets, drinking and driving should be abstained
at every cost, adherence to the traffic rules is mandatory. These are small yet
highly significant steps which should be followed at any cost. Severe accidents
have been reported because of people's carelessness while driving or
crossing a road. These days people are also crazy about selfie on the
road or while travelling which is also a major reason for accidents and
mishaps. It is sad to know that 91% of the road accidents
take place in developing or underdeveloped countries. A report shared claims
that almost 3000 people die globally due to road accidents. One important
factor which is highly critical in this regard is the monitoring of speed. It
is rightly said ‘Speed thrills but kills.’ Over speeding while driving and
hurrying up while crossing the road may land you into trouble. Our elders are
right when they say that its better late than never. The safety on the roads
are improving and people are becoming conscious about it too. People are now
ensuring their seat belts, their helmets which in return is safeguarding their
lives. So, overall we can conclude that being careful can protect us from various
accidents and our safety lies in our hands
