## 4. The ages of two persons differ by 14 years. 5 years ago, the elder one was 3 times as old as the younger one. What are their present ages of the elder person?

**Answer:**

**Option D**

**Explanation :**

Present age of the elder person = x

Present age of the younger person = (x – 14)

Five years ago.

(x – 5) = 3 (x-14-5)

=> x – 5 = 3x – 57

=> 2x = 52

=> x = 52/2 = 26

So elder person age will be 26 years.
