People living in poverty do not have enough money for basic necessities such as food and shelter. An example of poverty is the state a person is in when he is homeless and not has enough money. The rate of poverty in India is increasing because of the population in the urban areas. Most important are crores of people are below the poverty line and most of the people are on the borderline of poverty. Poverty in India is seen mainly in the rural areas because of the uneducated and unemployed and increased population. Many people do not afford to get the proper foods for their daily life. Poverty can be controlled by giving them proper education and also provide the proper facilities to the farmers so that those farmers get more profitable and do not migrate to cities in search of employment. Also, illiterate people;e should get proper education to make their life better, also family planning is also essential for coming out from poverty. Poverty in our country is from ancient times even earlier times the poor people were not given such place what rich people used to get even they were not allowed to enter in religious places.
In the last 2-3 years we have been seen that they become more serious by bringing GST in the action, demonetization so because of GST all the businesses can pay full tax and which will help to develop the country and the poverty ratio can be reduced. Steps of demonetization were taken so that black money can be utilized for the poor people and poverty can be reduced.

The direct consequence of poverty is hunger, Malnutrition and that in-turn leads to acquiring various forms of diseases and also lack of proper healthcare facilities. Poverty also contributes to illiteracy as a person does not get basic necessities there is every possibility that there will drop out of school in search of employment.
Causes of Poverty in India
1. Population Explosion: This is the major cause for poverty in developing countries like India. For example: If the size of a family is 8 and there is only one earning member in that family then it becomes very difficult to meet all the basic needs of the family members.
Also if population is more then the employment opportunities also decrease and which contributes to the increase in the number of people who are unemployed.
2.Poor Agricultural practices: In India most of the population lives in villages and their major source of income is Agriculture. However they still use outdated farming practices for growing crops which will not help in yielding higher crop produce. Which means the amount of income earned per acre of land decreases.
3. Illiteracy: Education becomes a difficult task for the poor. Firstly because it is not their priority since there is no proper food to eat,clothes to wear and shelter to live in there is always a tendency to earn and there is every chance that a child will not show interest in education. This will also effect their employment opportunities in future and they stick to mediocre jobs.
4.Natural Calamities: Natural calamities like floods, earthquakes etc. also effect people making them poor. It displaces people and they lose major chunk of what they own during these times and make them poor.
5.Corruption: In countries like India corruption is widespread.There is corruption at all levels which is forcing the government resources not to be utilized properly. There are many government schemes to support the poor but not all of them actually reach them major chunk is lost during the initial release itself by corrupt officials driving the poor to remain poor.
Eradication of Poverty: Poverty can be eradicated if a government plans properly and executes them. A few of them can be
1) Population control: Government should design schemes that would bring awareness among the people about the ill effects of population. Also various birth control measures have to be designed and implemented.
2) Creation of employment opportunities: Government can give loans to promote small business and encourage people to set up their own business. Also it can encourage foreign countries to do investment in our country so that educated will get employment opportunities.
3) Tackling corruption: Appropriate measures should be taken to tackle corruption. Strict laws should be made to tackle corruption.
4) Providing Primary Health: Basic health needs of the poor people should be handled by Government hospitals. Also the nutrition of the babies, pregnant and lactating mothers should be taken care by designing and implementing various government policies.
Poverty can be handled by using Multidimensional approaches that help in curbing them and creating a country where the people who live in poverty would decrease steadily and poverty would be eradicated completely.
