Noise pollution majorly exists in India. In fact, with the rise of urbanization, the level of noise pollution is increasing rapidly. Unlike air or water pollution, noise level do not affect the environment directly, but the major impact of noise pollution is on the human beings.
Let us see what are the sources through which noise pollution is created. All the noise pollution of the world are created by humans only. The major source of this pollution is transportation system. Increased number of vehicles in road, traffic jams and the honking noise of these vehicles cause at most disturbance in the nature. Also, loud noise of airplanes, railways etc also contribute in the noise pollution.
Since the evolution of industrialization in the world, the birth of noise pollution also took place. All the industrial activities contribute majorly in the noise pollution. The factories, mills and other industries add noise to a great extent.
The loudspeakers which are played in any functions like weddings, birthdays, religious functions etc, the fireworks in festivals like diwali, etc, create a lot of nuisance in the residential areas.
The activities like mining, drilling, construction also produces a great noise.
There are numerous harmful impacts of noise pollution in the environment. It majorly affects the living beings. First of all, the impact can be seen in human beings itself. Prolonged effect of noise can directly affect the ear drum of our ears. It reduces the sensitivity of the ears to the sounds.
The disturbance in ear can affect the nerves of the eyes and the brain directly. Gradually, the problems like headache, insomania, i.e; loss of sleep etc can be experienced. Moreover, it can also cause a major disease like migraines, fatigue, mental stress and even depression.
The high level of noise can also affect heart patients and the old age people. The blood pressure increases due to loud noise which can lead to heart attacks too.
The affect of noise pollution can be seen on the wildlife too. The pets becomes more aggressive and afraid when they are exposed to loud noise.
Thus, it is the need of the hour to come forward and reduce the noise pollution. As we know very well, that this is completely man- made pollution, thus, it is us only who can do something to reduce the noise pollution. Some of the points mentioned below can help in coming out from the noise pollution.
First of all, the first and the foremost thing that we can do is to go green by planting more and more tress in the environment. Plants have the capacity to absorb noise. In fact, they are very good noise absorbents. So, we must plant more and more trees around our house and in the localities too. This will not only help in reducing noise pollution, rather it has much more great advantages like it can reduce all types of pollution.
Secondly, industries and factories must be setup in the outskirts of the cities, especially far away from the hospital areas, so that no one gets disturbed through the noise.
Next, we must turn off the electrical appliances like televisions, music player etc if not in use to avoid unnecessary chaos.
Further, sound proof walls must be used in hospitals, schools and if possible in our house too to be safe from outside noise.
Proper lubrication and maintenance must be done of the machines in the factories so that no noise should arise.
Government must keep a check on the noise level of the vehicles. Suitable dB limit must be set for the vehicles.
Thus, if we follow at least these steps then we can control noise pollution up to a great extent. After all, it is us, the human being, who have created these harmful things, thus, it is our sole responsibility to get out off this and make our Earth a better place to live in.
