Reservation policy fails to achieve its purpose of giving equal opportunity to everyone because of lack of infrastructure in the rural areas of the country where the proportion of backward classes is significant. A number of people living in some remote areas in Orissa, M. P. or Bihar are not even aware of these policies. They are deprived of even primary education and basic employment which make them more backward financially. It fails to establish which causes dis-balance in the status of the states. There is special reservation quotas for the backward classes such as schedule cast, schedule tribe and other backward classes. However a majority of the backward classes is not living any differently than before because their subsistence is meagre and rural lifestyles do not provide them with any of the benefits. The worst thing is that many are not even aware of these policies, especially in the interior parts of the nation. Thus a distinct economic class system exists within the backward classes. Mostly undeserving people have gained the advantages and the deserving ones are still without any significant positive change in their plight. n quota systems, seats are reserved under caste differences, gender differences, and religious differences. “Unity In diversity”, we all have heard this phrase from our childhood. If there is unity then there should be equality but where is the unity seen if there are still caste and gender differences. Instead of uniting we are segmenting it. In India most of the scholarships are available for SC, ST, NT, OBC, Women’s and other minority classes.
So, as per our quota system, these people who fall under these categories will be primary beneficiaries. Even if the student has fewer marks he will get an advantage of this policy. That’s why a student from the general category and with good marks will not get the benefit of this.

Reservation in India takes place due to some issue in government of India. The objective of providing reservations to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes is that they will get priority in every field whether it is education or job. In JEE mains, the cut off for general caste students is very high but in case of scheduled castes, the cut off is very low. It basically aims at empowering them and ensuring their participation in the decision-making process of the state. Besides, the state is also keen to end practices such as untouchability. Scheduled castes are given 15% quota in jobs and higher educational institutions whereas Scheduled tribe are given 7.5% quota in jobs and higher educational institutions. So, scheduled tribe students are facing problems in this practice.
So, Reservation in India is neither good nor bad, because it is good in some cases and vice versa. As we all know that everything has its own pros and cons.

India is a democratic country. India is the only country which accept different religions. It is full of different cultures and societies. In India there are many different people from different backgrounds like from upper class some are from lower class. This is the only reason why government has implement the rule of reservation in India. Reservation is all about giving some extra profit rather advantage to the lower class people. Some basic advantages like reservation on competitive exams life Jee Mains, UPSC and many more.
Reservation in India has always in headlines and the hot topic for everyone specially for students. First lets talk about the most important reservation topic based on education. Educational growth of India is going down and their is n number of reasons for this situation. There is a reservation which is based on the cast , for an example a boy who is from Sc category and got 45 marks in Jee Mains, he cleared the mains exam. On the other hand a boy who is from general category he got 65 marks in Jee Mains he dose not clear the exam. This is the thing people think about and talk about, but the ratio of selection process is so low. Students who belong to Sc or St or Obc background they have a very limited seats. Even though there cutoff is less they could not make to the end because there is only a limited seats for them, where as for general background students though cutoff is high but they do not have a limited seats.
So, what I think is that reservation in India has both good and bad effect. Government should think of it and make a permanent solution for it. Also the solution should be for the betterment of both upper class and lower class people and also it should not hurt any religion as well.
