11 / 42
There are two pipes A and B. If A filled 10 liters in hour B can fills 20 liters in same time. Likewise B can fill 10, 20, 40, 80,160. If B filled in (1/16) th of a tank in 3 hours, how much time will it take to fill completely?
A17 hours
B5 hours
C7 hours
D7 1/2 hours
Show Explanation
Tank filled by B in 3 hours=1/16
B fills double amount than in previous hour (from Given series 10,20,40,80,160)
So in 4 hours tank filled=2/16
In 5 hours tank filled=2*2/16=4/16
In 6 hours tank filled=2*4/16=8/16
In 7 hours tank filled=16/16=1
So, it took 7 hours to fill the tank

B is filling twice in a hour.
In 3hrs it fills 1/16th of tank.
so after 4hr(3hrs+1hr)=(1*2)/16=1/8th
similarly after 5hrs=(1*2)/8=1/4th
after 6hrs=(1*2)/4=1/2th
after 7hrs=(1*2)/2=1(hence tank is full)
