21. The average of ages of three persons is 60 years .Those ages are in the proportion of 2:4:6.what is the age of the youngest one among them?

View Answer | Discuss in Forum | Workspace | Asked In |

Answer: Option A

Explanation:

As per Formula:
(If the given ages in a ratio a : b then age will be ax and bx)

so persons age will be 2x, 4x and 6x respectively.

Their age average is 60
so (2x+4x+6x)/3 = 60
=> 12x = 60 * 3
=> x = 180/12 = 15

so age of youngest is 30 years.

View Answer | Discuss in Forum | Workspace | Asked In |

Answer: Option D

Explanation:

Let the present ages of son and father be x and (60 -x) years respectively.

Then, (60 - x) - 6 = 5(x - 6)

=> 54 - x = 5x - 30
=> 6x = 84
=> x = 14.
Son's age after 6 years = (x+ 6) = 20 years..

28. A father is 30 years older than his son however he will be only thrice as old as the son after 5 years what is father's present age ?

View Answer | Discuss in Forum | Workspace | Asked In |

Answer: Option A

Explanation:

Lets assume son's age = x
So, father's age = x + 30

After 5 years:
Son's age = x + 5
Father's age = x + 35

In 5 years the father is thrice as old as his son so:
3(x + 5) = x + 35
x = 10

So, current father's age = 40 Years.

30. A person's present age is two-fifth of the age of his mother. After 8 years, he will be one-half of the age of his mother. How old is the mother at present?

View Answer | Discuss in Forum | Workspace | Asked In |

Answer: Option C

Explanation:

Lets assume mother's present age = x years
So, the person's present age = 2/5 x years
As per the question:
=>(2/5 x + 8) = 1/2 (x + 8)
=> 2(2x + 40) = 5(x + 8)
=> x = 40
So Mother present age = 40 years.
