The fairly new cricket format Twenty-20 has brought up a new love for the game. As exciting this short format game is, there have been questions about the skills required to play the matches now. Twenty-20 is the shortest format of cricket being played and has attracted a lot of attention. Test(5 Days), one-day are the other formats of the game. Domestic leagues have surged up after the introduction of the game. As the format is short, it easy to arrange and play the game. There couldn't have been better start for Indians who like cricket as Indian Cricket Team won the first T-20 world cup in 2007 and the finals was against the arch rivals, Pakistan. Also the world saw the decisions and the calm nature of the Indian captain Mr. Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Surely, there has been rise in the popularity of the game, but the question comes in what skills you need to play a game which last only for 40-overs combining the two innings. This comes in rather as an observation. This is because in an ODI game, they had to plan as to in which they will start hitting, going on the offense and when they have to be on the defensive end. Also the player gets an over or two, to settle in and start scoring. All of this has no place in T-20, this doesn't means h=there's no planning involved. But, any player except the openers will not get more than 3 or 4 balls to settle in. Herein the player showcase their class, they come to the ground and choose their shots rightly and score. The decisions, shot-selections have to be quicker and efficient too.
No, T-20 isn't killing the real cricketing skills. It's fun to watch and play
