Points to remember before you participate in a Essay Writing:
- Divide your essay into 3 parts (each in a different paragraph).
- Introduction -> content -> conclusion.
- Give a space after the full stop (.) and comma (,).
- Capitalise the next word after the full stop.
- Frame small sentences as it will prevent you from making mistakes. Avoid extra spaces.

The exhaust fumes coming out from the vehicles are major cause of air pollution. These releases huge amounts of carbon monoxide. Millions of vehicles runs on a daily basis, each one leaving its own carbon monoxide in the environment. So, to avoid this, now-a-days, CNG vehicles have came into picture. Along with CNG vehicles, many electric and solar vehicles must also be introduced to minimize the air pollution.
Moreover, burning of fossil fuels such as coal and petroleum also releases huge amount of harmful chemicals in air like sulfur dioxides, leads and many more. The fossil fuels are used in making foods, in vehicles and also in producing electricity. Instead of using fossil fuels alternative energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy etc must be used to produce equivalent amount of energy and also reduce air pollution simultaneously.
Smoke coming out from factories and industries also emit harmful pollutants in the environment. The construction works such as making of infrastructures also releases many dust in the atmosphere. Use of chimneys and other sources of renewable energy can be best to reduce industrial air pollution.
There are many household activities which are responsible for producing air pollution. Some of these are the CFC's releasing from air conditioners, refrigerators play a major role in increasing air pollution resulting in global warming and depletion of ozone layer.Burning of fire-crackers plays a very important role in causing air pollution. It can be seen that the air of Delhi is not suitable for breathing at all.
Also, smoking also contribute in air pollution along with the health risks.
Deforestation is also a major cause of air pollution. Due to absence of trees, we do not get enough supply of oxygen, and thus, there becomes unbalance in carbon-dioxide and oxygen. This increases carbon-dioxide in the environment.
There are also many harmful chemicals used in sprays and pesticides which also contaminates the air. Moreover, there are many natural disasters such as forest fires, volcano eruptions that release massive amount of pollutants in environment.
Many causes of air pollution are mentioned above. This in return cause many harmful effects in the environment. Some of these are as:
Air pollution increases the rate of global warming in the atmosphere. The ozone layer is depleting at a very fast rate due to harmful toxic gases. Global warming is the increase in the temperature of the Earth's atmosphere due to release of harmful gases. This can be felt practically. It can be seen easily in the form of unbalance in seasons. It is the month of November and still there is no sign of winter. It is still hot. Before ten years, November month was a bit colder one. Due to higher temperatures, polar ice caps and glaciers are melting at a very fast rate, which leads to the elevation of the sea level causing floods and other natural disasters.
One of the major effects of air pollution is on the human health. Air pollution causes irritation in eyes, lungs, nose and throat and cause breathing and many respiratory problems such as asthma. The pollutants of air which comes inside our body while breathing gets into our blood and mixes with hemoglobin and forms deoxy-hemoglobin,i.e; impure blood; which can cause many dangerous disease and even deaths. Moreover, air filled with toxins can have adverse effects on arteries leading to blocking of heart and causing heart-attacks.
The harmful pollutants which mixes with the water molecules in the atmosphere produces acid rain. These acid rains which falls causes deterioration of monuments and also when falls on the human's skin causes skin problems such as itching, burning and irritation. One of the best example of acid rain is discoloration of the Taj Mahal. Taj Mahal has become yellowish due to this acid rain.
There are numerous of effects caused by air pollution. To minimize these, many solutions must be encouraged, such as:
As the smokes coming out of the vehicles are the major contributors of air pollution in the environment, these must be replaced by CNG's, electric vehicles and solar vehicles. Use of bi-cycles must be encouraged.
Fossil fuels must be replaced by renewable sources of energy like solar, wind and nuclear energy.
Afforestation must be encouraged so that more and more oxygen gets released in the atmosphere.
It is our responsibility to switch off the electric appliances before going out of our house. Also, we must use CFL's in our house as it reduces energy consumption and produces less heat and is also cost efficient.
Moreover, Government must also take steps to curb this major issue. However, a new scheme of odd-even has been introduced. It can reduce air pollution up to a little extent. Government must take more bigger action in order to reduce air pollution.
So, overall it can be concluded that, as the inhabitants of the Earth, it is our due responsibility to come together and take major step in order to reduce air pollution and make our Earth green, clean, beautiful and a healthy place to live in.
